Enabling children to reach their full potential

About Navigate

Navigate Occupational Therapy offers individually tailored paediatric assessment and therapy services to children aged under 7 years. Occupational therapy supports children to participate to their full potential, in the activities they need and want to do, as part of everyday life. This encompasses daily routine self care tasks, as well participating in the preschool or school environment, and most importantly, play!

Navigate Occupational Therapy understands that you know your child’s strengths, interests and needs best, so we collaborate closely with you to establish your child’s therapy goals and intervention plans. We also understand the significance of a child’s physical and social environments - that is where children routinely participate in activities and who is in their family and support network. Navigate Occupational Therapy has therefore been designed as a flexible and mobile practice, offering a program that is individually tailored to your child’s specific requirements. Assessment and therapy can be provided to your child in the most appropriate environment to meet their needs. Therapy can occur in your own home, or at child care, preschool or school (pending site approval). Collaboration with relevant other caregivers, educators and funding bodies, is also part of our service as required. We are committed to providing a comprehensive occupational therapy service that supports you and your child as you navigate life’s journey, enabling your child to reach their full potential.

Meet Renee

My name is Renee and I graduated from the University of South Australia with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) with Honours, in 1999. I now have over 20 years' experience practicing occupational therapy in a variety of clinical environments and bring a depth of knowledge and experience to my work with children and families.

I strive to create fun and engaging activities for children and provide practical solutions to the challenges encountered in their daily routines. Every child and family is unique and I strongly value providing flexible and individually tailored occupational therapy programs, that are specific to your child's own goals and based on the best available evidence.

Outside my occupational therapy practice, I am a mum of 2 boys who loves being active, spending time with my family, participating in outdoor activities and experiencing nature as much as possible.

Renee’s Career

My occupational therapy career began with 11 years enjoying many different roles working with adults at Flinders Medical Centre, the Repatriation General Hospital and the Gold Coast Hospital Palliative Care Service in Queensland, before I began my journey in the field of paediatrics in 2011.

From this time through to 2019, I worked with children accessing both outpatient and inpatient services through Flinders Medical Centre, as well as young babies and children receiving developmental follow up after premature birth.

I have also worked as a lecturer and clinical educator in occupational therapy at Flinders University between 2017 and 2021. In this role I supported occupational therapy students on various clinical placements and lectured in both the Bachelor of Health Sciences and Master of Occupational Therapy programs. I was also directly involved in establishing and supervising a student led paediatric occupational therapy clinic at Flinders University.

I have established Navigate Occupational Therapy on the foundations of being a compassionate, creative and family centred therapist, who loves working with children and seeing them develop to reach their potential.
